GlassView Announces Launch Of Video-Text Feature

December 01, 2016

GlassView, the cutting-edge social video distribution platform, today announced the launch of a new video-text feature, which allows consumers to easily share video links via all the major texting platforms. The function is activated via a button on the video that seamlessly connects to the user's default texting platform, whether it's iMessage, Messenger, WhatsApp, Viber or any of the other primary platforms.

While it's common to share video via buttons for Facebook, Twitter and other major social media platforms, the standard method is to copy and paste, a process so cumbersome on mobile that it inhibits sharing. The challenges around sharing video via text message can be particularly frustrating for advertisers since texting is such a natural platform for sharing content.

"There's something very personal about a text message," said James G. Brooks, Jr., Founder & CEO of GlassView. "Compared to a Snap, post or Tweet, a text message is a direct communication that carries a lot of weight, which helps to drive shares, clicks and others KPIs."

The feature also opens up new usage occasions. For instance, texting might serve as a better format for sharing health-related or other more personal videos than a public forum like Facebook. For example, a family member might want to share a medical video on cancer or Parkinson's disease, or a video ad on tax-preparation services. In addition, the feature promotes impulse sharing in a way that email might not.

The move comes as eMarketer has recently predicted that one-quarter of the world's population will use messaging apps by 2019. In 2016, some 1.4 billion people use messaging apps, which is up 16% over last year.
